Top Southern California Music Festivals to Check Out This Year

Southern California is the perfect place for music festivals. All the SoCal communities that host these festivals are super supportive of the artists and fans who attend music fests throughout the year, and it’s no secret that year-round sunshine is a major reason Southern California is festival country. If you live in San Diego or you’re here for a visit, the team from Onyx Room, the dance club San Diego clubgoers love for its inclusive, fun-focused vibe, suggest checking out these SoCal music festivals in the near future.

CRSSD at the San Diego Waterfront

This festival, known to locals as “Crossed,” is mostly focused on electronic dance music, and you’ll also find a ton of extras like food trucks, craft beer tents, games, and the best DJs spinning against the scenic backdrop of the San Diego Harbor. CRSSD happens twice a year. The spring festival was in early March, and the fall concert will probably be scheduled around September. One of the most famous performers from past CRSSD events is the legendary Kerri Chandler, who a lot of EDM fans give credit for inventing the deep house subgenre.

KAABOO San Diego

This used to be a boutique festival with a reputation for high-profile lineups and pricey tickets. It was held at the Del Mar Racetrack until the COVID-19 pandemic forced it to be canceled in 2020 and 2021. KAABOO has moved to Petco Park in downtown San Diego for 2022. The exact dates and lineup are still being confirmed, but in the past, it’s been in late September, and it’s featured artists ranging from Wu-Tang Clan and Sheryl Crow to Duran Duran and Snoop Dogg. It’s not clear whether ticket prices will be more reasonable this time around.

Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival

One of the best reasons to visit Palm Springs at least once a year is to hit the legendary Coachella Music Festival. This year, Coachella will be at the Empire Polo Club of Indio over two weekends: April 15th–17th and April 22nd–24th. Assuming you’re able to get tickets for the second weekend of Coachella, you’ll be able to catch Banda MS, Billie Eilish, Kanye West, Caribou, Chicano Batman, Karol G, Run the Jewels, and many others.

Tequila & Taco Music Festival

Delicious Mexican food, premium tequila, craft beer, and great music are the highlights of this San Diego spring festival, which is scheduled for the afternoons of April 30th and May 1st at Petco Park. The musical lineup for this year was still being finalized as of March 2022, but last year, it featured artists such as Tag Team, Latin hip-hop ensemble Ozomatli, La Sonora Dinamita, and Vanilla Ice.
